HOW WE LEARN
Learning happens everywhere: at home, at school, in the community. Our projects are very real. This isn't about a teacher sitting at the blackboard presenting some theory that never gets applied or understood. Our projects are real: Let's build a place to work, let's build a garden, let's build a place to play.
These projects are 100% practical - teaching our participants all the key skills needed to think, collaborate, design and build any dream project.
Example: If you build a garden - you need to learn about: seeds and biology and genetics, weather, basic maths and landscape design. These skills together form the curriculum for this particular project.
Real Projects. Real Impact.
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE,
EVERYTHING IS INTERESTING
We work to help our students understand that anything is possible and that everything can be interesting.
This program is as much about learning the technical skills as it is about learning life skills such as: communication, negociation, presentation, giving feedback etc.
360 DEGREES - INSIDE AND OUTSIDE
We work to help the students see school as being part of the community, country, and world. In practice, this means leaving the school frequently and easily when the need or opportunity arises, and welcoming outside experts and community members. Within the school, students are organized in mixed-age bands and are encouraged to pursue projects with partners of different ages, genders, and skill levels.
EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT
Our program plays on people's strengths and encourages diversity. Some people will love the 'science' part, others will love the artistic side, but everyone will learn the basics in order to foster discovery.
PARTNERS,
NOT TEACHERS,
We don't have 'teachers', we have 'partners' in education and teaching.
The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires. Our goal is to inspire kids, parents, companies, the community.
